Dub is a Weapon - Dub is a Weapon (2003)

Dub is a Weapon is a New York based dub band that quickly created ties with dub man, myth, and legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry. The band was founded by Dave Hahn, most well known for playing guitar in the Antibalas. It is pretty hard for me to gather any information on this album, but I recall it being produced by Perry himself, but don't quote me on that. They've also been touring extensively with him, showing the world that white kids from NYC can play dub too.

3 Brutalize Me With Dub (4:15)
4 City Dub (3:58)

10 Conviction Or A Dub (4:35)

There's something special about this album that I can't quite put my finger on. This is not your standard, garden-variety dub record; this is unusually upbeat with haunting vocals and lots of not-so-dub percussion.

Richard Dorfmeister traded his partner in Kruder & Dorfmeister for Rupert Huber. Peter Kruder would go on to create Peace Orchestra, his solo project, while Dorfmeister and Huber would continue the ambient dub mindfucks with Tosca. No Hassle is their newest album, and in traditional Dorfmeister fashion, when you hear it you'll shit bricks. Vienna, Austria FTW

Tortoise vs. Scientist - 2004-06-03 The Echo

Tortoise, a post-rock jazz fusion band from Chicago, teams up with Scientist, dub producer, at a live show in L.A.. So while Tortoise is doing their thing, Scientist is at the soundboard (on stage) mixing up the vibes and turning the reverb up to 11. I only wish this was a more common occurrence in the live music business.

Here's a full review of the show: http://www.dustedmagazine.com/features/267

Black Uhuru - Sinsemilla (1980)

Black Uhuru are legends in the dub community. So, it would only make sense that this album would be produced by the best, Sly & Robbie. Guitar and drums get reverb'd to shit and the bass is way too heavy, but that's what makes this shit so good.

Ossie Hibbert & The Revolutionaries - Earthquake Dub (1976)

Played by The Revolutionaries and produced by Ossie Hibbert, this is, IMO, the best dub album ever released. So roll a fattie, cause shit's about to get weird.
