What's left to say about DJ Premier that hasn't already been said? He is the king. Arguably the best hip hop producer of all time, Premier's work with Gang Starr was legendary by itself, but he didn't stop there. He kept going... and going... and going. These tracks are some of the best beats he's ever put out and they're all instrumental for your enjoyment.

Childish Gambino - I AM JUST A RAPPER

Introducing Childish Gambino. You might know him already. He's on the NBC sitcom "The Community" and part of Derrick Comedy, a comedy group made famous through viral videos that's now featured on MTV. In this mixtape he drops witty and ridiculous rhymes over indie tracks like Grizzly Bear's "Two Weeks" and Animal Collective's "My Girls".

Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Blackstar is arguably the most essential 'conscious' hip hop record out there. The majority of the production is done by Hi-Tek, with the remainder done by Shawn J. Period and J Rawls. Common makes a well deserved appearance on track 11 - Respiration. RAWKUS!

19 Dinner With Blockhead (0:46)
20 The Mayor And The Crook (4:09)

This is Aesop Rock's first major LP. Aes Rock's shit it filled with ridiculous rhymes and an unimaginable flow. Like most of his early work, this LP has pretty depressing lyrics and a hostile attitude, as if he spent days in his NYC apartment living off cigarettes and basic cable (because he did).

2 N.Y. Electric - Hunter Interlude (5:10)
3 Easy (5:01)

13 11:35 - Ketamine U.S.A. Interlude (4:23)
14 Kill The Messenger (4:54)
15 Mars Attacks (4:39)

Aesop Rock continues his stream-of-consciousness rapping technique, but this time on the Def Jux label. Other label members, Mr. Lif, El-P, and Camp Lo make appearances. I have heard that this was intended to be a concept album, but the 'out there', fast paced lyrics don't permit me to figure out what exactly the concept is. If you figure it out, my email is that way ----->
